Sherry Veldhuis

Sherry Veldhuis age 78, of Zeeland, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family, following a long battle with cancer. Sherry was born on November 4, 1937, along with twin brother, Sidney to John and Susanna Vande Vusse. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gary Vande Vusse, mother and father-in-law, and several in-laws and a nephew. Sherry and Leon Velduis were married for 58 years and together raised four children; Dede (Bryan) Kuiken of Zeeland, Curt Veldhuis of Kalamazoo, Vickie (Dave) Boss of Zeeland, Jeff (Christi) Veldhuis of Byron Center. She adored her seven grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Barclay, Kendra (Justin) Flokstra, Troy (fiancée Jessica) Kuiken, Alyssa Boss, Gabe Boss, Jakob Veldhuis, Annika Veldhuis; two great grandchildren, Emme and Ella; brothers, Jack Vande Vusse, Howard and Gayle Vande Vusse, Sidney and Carol Vande Vusse, Glen and Rosemary Vande Vusse; in-laws, Millie Taylor, Leona Heyblom, Way Hensen, Norm and Barb Veldhuis, Mary and Larry Reaume and Jackkie Jeanette. She was a member of Second Reformed Church in Zeeland. She was a past president of Zeeland Auxillary Post 33 and Holland Emblem Club 1315. She also worked at the Sight Eye Clinic for 37 years. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Second Reformed Church, 225 E. Central Ave. Zeeland with Rev. Karsten Voskuil officiating. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Second Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be given to Second Reformed Church or Hospice of Holland.
