Shigeru Watanabe Obituary

Shigeru (Paul) Watanabe. October 5, 1935 - June 7, 2016. Peacefully at the Mount Sinai Hospital Palliative Care Unit, after a courageous battle with cancer, in his eightieth year. Predeceased by his loving wife, Tatsue (2012), and dear father to Donald Hiroshi and Sharon Mariko. Predeceased by his parents, Saitoku and Haru, as well as his older siblings Kimiye, Akio, Tokiko, Takeshi, and Noboru. He will be missed by his aunt Mieko, cousin Reiko, several nieces and nephews, and other family members, not to mention his faithful cat Noel. Special thanks to the pulmonary oncology team at the Jewish General Hospital for their exemplary care. The family will receive condolences at the Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, on Monday, June 13 from 7pm-10pm, and Tuesday, June 14 from 5pm-7pm. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, June 14 at 7pm in the chapel of the Centre funéraire. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Peter Brodje Lung Cancer Centre of the Jewish General Hospital or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal.
