Shirley Buster Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 20, 2018.
Shirley C. Buster, age 90, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A native Houstonian, Shirley attended the University of Texas and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She married the love of her life, Winston S. Buster, Jr., on June 8, 1949, and they were blessed with 60 wonderful years together. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother and she loved any opportunity to celebrate with her family. She was also an avid golfer and she and Winston travelled to many couple tournaments in Texas. In 1961, they joined Champions Golf Club where she was an active golfer and enjoyed playing Gin Rummy with the ladies in the locker room. She loved volunteering and served as past President of the Ladies Golf Association. The PGA Houston Shell Open was one of her favorite events where she enjoyed managing the volunteers. Shirley was one of the first "Boutique Ladies" at Houston's first Steinmart store where she worked for fifteen years. A founding member of the First Colony Investment Club, in the early 1980's, Shirley remained a member until 2016. In recent years, much to her delight, she had the opportunity to travel and travel she did. The Centrum, The Pearl Fincher Museum and the Champions Antique Club were among her many passions. She was an active member of St. Dunstans Episcopal Church and served as a Petal Pusher, Pew Stacker and joyful member of a Bible Study group. Preceded in death by her husband, Winston S. Buster, Jr., Shirley is survived by her son, Winston S. Buster III; daughters: Dana Boyd and husband Steve, Debbie Kanaly and husband Jeff; grandchildren: Winston Taylor Boyd and wife, Amanda, Jeffrey Chase Kanaly, Marla Renee Lacy and husband, Paul, and Morgan Lee Kanaly; great grandchildren: McKenzie Grace Lacy and Luke Winston Boyd. The family would like to thank Shirley's loving care takers: Josie Amaya, Milly Amaya and Irma Rodriguez. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Dunstans Episcopal Church, 14301 Stuebner Airline Rd., Houston, TX 77069. Bebe - When I think of you I will always remember your infectious laugh and the smile and the way you carried yourself! You showed our family true love by the way you always cared for Pawpaw! It was such a beautiful display! Every conversation with you was a treasure! You made every effort to be a part of our lives, and those moments will be forever for the better because you were with us! We will miss not having you in person with us and miss hearing your sing "Happy Birthday" but we know that you have found your permanent Home in Heaven! Where you are free of pain, and finally back with Pawpaw again! So for now it's not a good bye, but a see you again soon! Matthew 5:16 - 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Bebe you have shined your light so bright, and we are so thankful that our God let you be our grandmother!
