Shirley Annabel (Brace) Casey, 91, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at The Grande Assisted Living Facility in South Portland, Maine.

Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on January 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mabel (Mitton) Brace.

Shirley was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Clarence Casey. She was the loving mother of two sons, Ricky (Kathleen) and Randy Casey. She was the eldest of six children and is survived by her brothers, Richard and William Brace, and her sister, Mary Turner. Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren, Olivia and Alexander Casey. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Kenneth, and her sister, Wanda.

Shirley and her husband, Clarence, started their married life by moving to Germany where Clarence continued his career in the Canadian Armed Forces. After their son, Ricky, was born they returned to the United States and settled in Stoneham, MA where they raised their sons. Shirley was very involved in her sons' ice hockey games and thrived on it. She never missed a game and prided herself on her knowledge of hockey, which likely rivaled that of the coach. She was so proud of her sons' accomplishments and maintained a lengthy scrap book containing news articles.

After retirement, Clarence and Shirley moved to Florida where they lived for 30 years before Clarence's passing. They loved being part of their community and never forgot their Canadian roots. In fact, Shirley always remained steadfast in her conviction and never became a U.S. citizen, choosing instead to maintain her Green Card, which was issued in the mid-1950s.

Shirley loved to travel and her adventures took her as far afield as China, Ireland and Russia.

A memorial service for Shirley will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 67 Pownal Road, Freeport, ME 04032.

For those unable to attend the above service, a memorial service for Shirley will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1445 Lakeview Road, Clearwater, FL 33756
