I knew Shirley from high school all those years ago. I did not know her well but I remember her being very involved in the activities of the school and also being a very sweet person. My world of memories is diminished to know that she is no longer among us.

I was fortunate enough to attend the memorial you had for Shirley today and I am thankful for such a wonderful day. You all did a great job. When I found out about Shirely's passing it felt like someone hit me with a two by four. I remember speaking with Shirley and my battle with breast cancer and the positive outlook she had. I pray that you are your family will enjoy the memories you have and live every day to it's fullest. This is what Shirley has taught me. God bless

I was looking out my kitchen window this morning and I saw fresh rabbit tracks on the white shiny snow. I felt this urge to go outside to make a Snow Angel. The impression that I made was a bit lopsided but perfect, just like the impression that you have made on my soul.
Shirley, I will always remember the fun times we had together, your contagious sense of humour, your bright smile and ever positive attitude.
I will miss you deeply, my Snow Angel.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Shirley, but your entire Christopher family has been so supportive to our family. Our dad kept us informed about how Shirley was doing, until his passing last fall. I am sure she will be deeply missed.

Hi Stephen,
My deepest sympathy is sent to you at this very sad time. I am so shocked to have seen the notice in the Journal, and am totally lost for words. Unfortunately, I have lost contact with good friends since we graduated from high school and moved away from Edmonton. Shirley was such an awesome person and friend, since we started elementary school and continued on until we all graduated together from high school. Every December on her birthday, I would think to myself - it is Shirley's birthday today. We used to have such fun at her mom and dad's house, and believe me, we hung out there a lot!
I know you will have many many treasured memories of Shirley, as will all of us from school. My thoughts will be with you and your family forever.
Sincerely,
Marilyn Gronnestad (Smith now)

Dear Stephen and family
I worked with Shirley at the RAH years ago and was so saddened to see this obituary. She made each work day a fun place to be. I have such good memories of our time together and regret not having kept in touch. My thoughts and prayers go out to you in this sad time.

I was shocked to hear of Shirley's passing. We were student nurses together years ago and we lost contact with each other. I have many fond memories. I know how much she cared for Stephen and her beautiful children. Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of a beautiful woman.

I trained with Shirley at the R.A.H. She was always a very optimistic and caring person. I had recently ran into her at the Strathcona Public Health Centre and knew she was battling hard. I have recently lost my daughter and know the darkness and sadness you feel. May God give you strength at this very sad time.

Lawrence, Alleah, Monique and I (and Chimo too) absolutely adored Shirley. She treated Alleah and Monique so kindly and always let Chimo jump on her lap when he was afraid. I will miss sitting with Shirley at Lake Isle and chatting about life, family and fun. I learned alot from her, had lots of fun with her and will cherish her memory forever.

It is with a heavy heart I am writing this. We met Shirley in Edmonton at the rehab clinic at the Univerisity Hospital. We have only known Shirley for 3 years, but what an impression she has left on my family.
Her smile could brighten any room, her laughter contagious and her kindness unbelievable. We enjoyed seeing each other everyday at rehab, making a hard time for all a little easier to cope with. We shared lots of laughs, jokes and many conversations about our families.
Even after we left Edmonton we still kept in touch through our emails. Always keeping each other upto date on what was going on in our lives. Can't forget about the odd joke we would send to each other.
We are honored to have Shirley apart of our lives, even for such a short period of time. She will hold a special place in our hearts always.
Our thoughts and prays are with you all at this time.

Memories of Shirley will live with me forever. Her shining example of how to live life to the fullest made her the greatest teacher. I learned from her some of the most important lessons in life.
How a smile can brighten the day of everyone you meet.
How laughter can make one sparkle with joy.
How compassion, generosity and love of nature makes the world a better place.
How love of family and friends ties us all together.
I am truly blessed to have had Shirley, my kindred spirit, in my life.
My heart goes out to her wonderful family who filled her life with love.
