Shirley Empey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 17, 2025.
Shirley Empey (Noe), age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 14, 2025, in Arlington, Washington. Born on June 27, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shirley lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community.

Shirley began her professional journey as a ward clerk at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After relocating to Washington with her husband Dave Empey, she continued her work in healthcare as an Infection Control Practitioner at Everett General Hospital. Her commitment to public health led her to Cascade Valley Hospital, where she served as a Community Health Educator. Never one to stop growing professionally, Shirley earned her Bachelor's degree in Business and transitioned into the corporate world as a Human Resource Specialist at the Boeing Company. She retired from Boeing in 2010 after a fulfilling career that spanned both healthcare and industry.

Shirley's warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. Known for her outgoing nature and kind spirit, she had an infectious smile and laughter that could light up any room. Her hugs were legendary-offered freely and remembered fondly by all who received them.

She found great joy in cooking and made it her mission to ensure no one ever left her home hungry. Whether preparing meals for family gatherings or casual get-togethers with friends, Shirley's kitchen was always filled with love.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley is survived by her beloved husband Dave Empey; daughter Sue Krause; son-in-law Jake Krause; and grandsons Dylan and Trey Krause (Emmie Adsit), and extended family and many close friends. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them-especially time shared outdoors fishing for salmon or camping under the Washington skies.

Each year, Shirley looked forward to snow-birding in Yuma with Dave. At Sun Vista in Yuma, Arizona, she not only enjoyed the sunshine but also took on the role of organizing and managing the pinochle group-a testament to her leadership skills and vibrant social spirit.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents William Noe, Ora Mae, Esther Mae; and sisters Barbara Stahl and Charlotte Noe.

Her absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew her. Yet Shirley's legacy of love endures-in every shared memory, every warm embrace remembered, and every meal lovingly prepared. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire kindness for generations to come.

My favorite Auntie
I'm sure she's probably cooking up a big batch of brownies for Christ Jesus and my big brother Brad right now and of course anybody that is willing to have their stomachs burst from eating too much from her
(force feeding tactics) Delicious cooking
And I'm positive that their conversation is full of smiles and giggles while she's baking a second and third batch
