Shirley Mae McGraw Farley Shirley Mae McGraw Farley, age 69, of Midway, died Friday, August 31, 2007, at her home after battling cancer for two years. Heaven has another angel. Born at Winding Gulf, on January 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late C.V. �Luke� and Mae Cree McGraw. Shirley was an avid bowler until her illness. She was also a competitive softball player into her 50�s; playing with her two daughters on a Class D Girls softball team coached by her husband, Leighton. She was a 1956 Graduate of Stoco High School. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Pamela Farley Rupe Ratcliff, two brothers, Larry and Ronald Dean, and a sister Wamita. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Leighton C. Farley, Jr; two sons, Kim and wife Doris of Dobson, North Carolina, Kevin and wife, Jerri of Midway; a daughter, Pebbles Farley of Bradley; five grandchildren, Nikki Rupe, Courtney Ratcliff, and Ryan Ratcliff all of Midway, and Jessica Farley and Travis Farley both of Dobson, North Carolina; three brothers, Charles �Dewitt� McGraw and his wife Beulah Mae of Princewick, Rocky McGraw and his wife Doll of Seminole, Alabama, and James McGraw and his wife Annie of Ghent; five sisters, Mabel Brooks and her husband James of Taylor Michigan, Colleen Bragg and her husband Raymond of Fayetteville, West Virginia, Sheila Jones and her husband, Joe of Hagerstown, Maryland, Nelda Sposaro and her husband, Sal of Algonac, Michigan, Serina Hall and Joe of Berkley Springs, West Virginia, and Mitzi Bowyer and her husband, Johnny of Clear Creek, West Virginia. Special thanks go to the physicians, nurses, and other staff at the Raleigh Regional Cancer Center for their compassionate service in treating Shirley for the last two years. Very special thanks to Helen Farley, sister-in-law, who gave unselfishly of her time in caring for her very special 40-year friend. Also to be recognized for her devoted care of Shirley is Doris Farley, daughter-in-law, for her careful attention and care giving during her illness. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Blue Ridge Funeral Chapel at Prosperity, with the Rev. Paul Blizard, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Serving as pall bearers will be Randy Hunt, Jeff Hunt, Matt Jesse, Bill Wood, Marty Jones, and Gig Herald To show the family�s appreciation for their most professional and sympathetic care during the final weeks of her life, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Shirley be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802-1472.
