Shirley Costello Hocking Sept. 5, 1931 - June 2, 2009 Resident of Alameda Beloved Mother and Grandmother. Daughter of Francis Earl Costello and Norma Costello Stewart. Born on September fifth, 1931 in Oakland, California; Died on June second, 2009 in Alameda, California. Shirley is survived by her son H. Stuart Hocking, her grandchildren Stuart Hocking and Elena Hocking, and her great granddaughter Tatiana. Her son, grandchildren and great granddaughter were the love of her life. Shirley worked for many years as a senior buyer for Trans America DeLaval in Oakland. Shirley was a political activist, an active volunteer, and a entrepreneur, building several companies from the ground up, including Shirley Hocking Enterprises and Costello Farms Garlic. Shirley was a self made woman. She leaves many friends.
