Shirley Ann Caton McBride, 88, of Boiling Springs, passed away on October 14, 2022. Born on September 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. Caton and Lilly Mae Rice Caton. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her sister, Martha Magnuson.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wilbur Ray McBride, her children Randy McBride (Giselle), Rhonda Hamrick (Rodney), and Daniel McBride (Lisa) and her precious grandchildren Gilina McBride, Paden McBride, Makayla Hamrick, Madelyn Hamrick, Makenzie Hamrick, Mason McBride, Landyn McBride, and Bryson McBride
Shirley was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Boiling Springs, North Carolina for over 60 years. She loved being involved in her Garden Club, Sorosis Club, and Homemakers organizations.
Shirley worked as a Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant for 22 years at Boiling Springs Elementary where she was renowned for her kindness, creativity, and dedication to her students. For decades former students would remark, “I still remember Mrs. McBride! She was my favorite!”
After retiring Shirley enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren. She was known for giving the warmest hugs and always having a snack at the ready (butter pecan ice cream was her favorite). She loved to read and be read to, would laugh at any joke, and never turned down a trip to Cracker Barrel. Every year at Christmas she would say her biggest blessing was her family.
Shirley’s husband, Wilbur, was her forever partner and truest love. Their love was most evident through their combined dedication to their family, and in the care and support he provided throughout her final years.
Her legacy will shine bright through all those that were blessed to experience her immense kindness and poised graciousness.

Wilbur and Family;
Shirley is doing great now in Heaven and has seen and talked to Jesus, face-to-face. And she has had a greand reunion with many friends and realtives who had gone on before. And you all will see her again when it comes your time to go to Heaven, never more to part. And remember: God will get you all thru this very difficult time!

Oh, how the memories flood my mind of all the many years of sharing holidays and family gatherings! I will never forget all the adorable crafts and Christmas specialties Aunt Shirley would bring to our festivities! Her kind and gentle voice was always a gift to us all. Her precious love and acceptance of Andres into our family was such a gift to both him and me. We will forever love and miss her like crazy. I am tearing up writing this....she will always be one of my treasures in my heart!
