Shirley McGONIGAL

With profound grief and sadness the family announces that Mary Shirley McGonigal of Rhoddy's Bay passed away in Mississauga on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Bill on February 8, 1988. Much loved mother of Wendy Risch (Robert) of Mississauga; Kevin (Darlene Jahn) of Renfrew and Stephen (Sherry Stiles) of Arnprior. Cherished and proud "Grammie" of Lindsay Scheerle (Max), Erin Risch (Patrick Gilmore) and Allison Risch (Chris Damaso), Kayla Beauregard (Jayson) and Amy Campbell (Jake), Ryan, Marisa, Nicholas and Josh McGonigal and "Great-Grammie" of Blake, Jaylynn, Lucas and Hannah. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many great friends. Daughter of the late Michael John and Beatrice "Dolly" (nee Robillard) Wall, Shirley was also predeceased by her sister, Ann Millar (late Ray) and her brother Jack (late Georgina) Wall. Shirley was a genuinely dedicated nurse. She devoted 37 years of her working life to the care and needs of our community while working at the Arnprior Hospital. She was instrumental in the opening of the Chronic Care Ward of our hospital. Shirley loved her Lord, she loved people and she loved life. She will be missed. Shirley's final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation was held on Wednesday evening, June 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:15. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Braeside on Thursday morning, June 30th at 11 o'clock. Interment Malloch Road Cemetery. In memory of Shirley, a donation to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Shirley's family request that those attending the visitation, Mass or interment kindly wear masks and practice social distancing.
