She was another Mother to the friends of her son Henry who we often played football, basketball and just hung as brothers. She looked out for us and kept us in check when she sat on her porch at watched us as little boys in the neighborhood. She was one of the village-keepers, where back in our day it took a village to raise our children. She will always be remembered for her discipline of not only her sons, but the other boys in her son's lives. Rest in Heaven! Ms. Shirley!

Ms. Shirley was just like a mother to me (Reg Baylis-Taylor) at a very young age when it took a village to raise young boys. All the boys who were friends of her two sons she treated like her own. When we were young boys she kept us all out of trouble out of the Love she had for us. She will be truly missed. God, please continue to be with the Muse and Jefferson families during this time of the loss of a truly Loving and Awesome woman!
