Shirley Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2025.
Shirley Maurine Parker, 87, of Aquilla, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Shirley was born February 11, 1938, in Anson, Texas, to W.L. and Maxine Hollums. She married Richard Gary Parker on August 29, 1955.

She was a woman of faith and a daily Bible reader. Some of her happiest times were spent traveling in an RV with her husband.

She was creative, talented and industrious, and an amazing baby whisperer, cook, baker, crafter, crocheter, seamstress, quilter, gardener, self-made carpenter, and DIY enthusiast. No task was ever too big for her, and she loved giving others wonderful treasures she made with her own hands. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by infant grandson Gary Daniel Parker; and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Vicki (Larry) McWilliams, Ricky (Shelley) Parker, Terri (Tommy) Galloway, Darrell (Anthea) Parker; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, who all knew her as Nanny; brother, Don (JoAnn) Hollums; dear friends she ate lunch with on Fridays; many other relatives and friends; and her beloved cat Frisky.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 9, 1 p.m., at Open Range Cowboy Church, 582 FM 1713, Whitney, Texas, 76692. A private interment will follow.
