Sebring - Shirley Ruth Tarwater, aged 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Born on July 26, 1942, in Sevierville, Tennessee, Shirley brought joy and warmth to everyone she met and never met a stranger. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her Husband Ray Tarwater, parents Hal Bailey and Laura (Cecil) Ward; son, Ricky Ray Tarwater and her brother, Ronnie Bailey. Her legacy continues through her son, David Tarwater (Lorrie); Grandchildren: Brooks, Jeremy (Alley), Britteny (Andrew) and great grandsons: Keller, Craigen, Jaxton and Jamison. She also leaves behind brothers: James, Dennis (Sandra), Gary, Jeff, and Stephen, and sisters: Jean, and Carolyn (Steve); multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley's passion for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. An unconventional gamer at heart, she loved to play Nintendo, proving that joy has no age limit. Her enthusiasm for gaming created countless cherished memories. A lover of the outdoors Shirley found solace and beauty in flowers and nature. Lake Jackson held a special place in Shirley's heart. It was her favorite retreat where she would spend time reflecting on life's blessings. However, she would always consider The Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee home, and where she will be laid to rest. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the Sevierville County Church of God. Arrangements entrusted to: Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home 4001 Sebring Parkway Sebring, FL 33870 Online condolences may be left at: www.stephensonnelsonfh.com
