Sidney Hagan Obituary

HAGAN, Sidney Lee 96, passed away peacefully at The Suites at Walnut Creek in West Carrollton, Ohio on November 29th 2016. He was born in Hannibal, Missouri on September 2, 1920 to George and Hazel (Walters) Hagan. He graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri in 1938. He studied engineering at the University of Missouri. He subsequently worked at the A.P. Green Fire Brick Plant and Curtiss Wright in St. Louis. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Navy. He was in naval radio training school at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio when he met the love of his life, Madolin Alexander. They were married on November 27, 1944. Sid served the remainder of the war on the destroyer, U.S.S. Greer in the North Atlantic. Upon moving to Miamisburg, Ohio, Sid took a job in the engineering department of Frigidaire. He was called back to the Navy to serve in the Korean War. After the war, Sid continued to work for Frigidaire where held a supervisory position in engineering and quality assurance until he retired in 1980. Sid enjoyed golfing, hunting, tinkering with machines, traveling with Maddie and especially socializing with people. Nobody was a stranger to Sid. Sid is survived by his sons Michael (Sue) Hagan, of Dayton, Ohio and Daniel (Greta Young) of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Madolin Hagan and his brother, Richard Hagan. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Dayton on Wilmington Avenue or the Miamisburg Youth Center, 224 Maple Avenue, Miamisburg, Ohio, 45342.
