Sigrid S Jetton

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Sigrid Jetton, who departed this life on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the age of 83.

Born on December 11, 1941, in Hamburg, Germany, Sigrid brought a deep sense of compassion, strength, and love to everyone who knew her. In 1966, she traveled to the United States as a governess, with plans to return to Germany after two years to fulfill her dream of buying a horse. But a serendipitous visit to Siesta Key with the family she was working for changed everything. She fell in love-with Sarasota, its beauty, and its people-and chose to stay, continuing to care for children as a governess for another family on Casey Key.

In time, she became a devoted stay-at-home mother to her four children. Her life was marked by both immense love and deep sorrow. She was predeceased by her beloved son Jonathan, who passed at age 11, and her cherished daughter Jennifer, who died at just a year and a half. Despite these heartbreaking losses, Sigrid's resilience and devotion to her surviving children never wavered.

She later pursued her passion for helping others by becoming a certified nursing assistant. She earned her certification and began working for a local company, where she remained dedicated for almost 30 years. Caring for those at the end of life wasn't just a job for her-it was a calling. She brought gentleness, dignity, and kindness to everyone she served.

Sigrid is survived by her children, Christopher and Anne, her adored grandson, Jonathan, and extended family and friends in Hamburg, Germany. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandson and their accomplishments, and her love for them added much meaning to her life.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family kindly asks that anyone wishing to honor her memory do so by giving of themselves-whether through time or contributions-in service to others nearing the end of their life journey, a cause that was close to her heart.

Her legacy is one of love, quiet strength, and selfless care. She will be deeply missed.
