Silas Bolef of Norristown Silas Bolef of Norristown, passed away on Tuesday May 19, 2015. He was 95 years old. Born November 21, 1919 in Coney Island, NY, he was the son of the late Solomon and Vera Lukoff Bolef, stepson of the late Clara Yampolsky and the beloved husband of the late Rose Rebbe Bolef. As a young soldier temporarily stationed in Chicago, he met Rose Rebbe. They were married in June 1943. Shortly afterwards he shipped out to the Azores, where he serviced radios on B17 bombers. Rose and Si were married for 58 years before Rose passed away in 2002. In 1949 Silas started an electrical construction business in Philadelphia. He moved his family and the Silas Bolef Company to King of Prussia in 1952 and later to Norristown. Silas rose from poverty and lack of education to become a successful businessman and leader in the community. He was active in the Norristown Jewish Community Center and many charitable organizations. Silas is survived by his three children: Steven Bolef, Judy Miller (Eugene) and Susan Halfond, four grandchildren: Scott Halfond, Brie Halfond, Adam Miller, and Rachel Miller and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Dan I. Bolef. Relatives and friends are invited to Silas’s Funeral Service on Friday May 22, at 10 AM at Boyd Horrox of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike 610-277-7000. Calling hours will be from 9 to 9:50 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Tiferet Bet Israel Cemetery on Fairfield Rd. Belated condolences to the Silas Bolef Family, especially to his daughter Susan. I never realized what a terrific guy Si was until I wrecked his new Pontiac back in '63. A more gracious man is yet to be found. May Si's memory endure & may God keep & watch over his family.
