My sincerest condolences to the Zarins family.
I interned at FOH 1970-71 and Dr. Zarins was very instrumental in stimulating my interest in pediatrics. I learned a great deal from him in his kind and gentle manner. Not only did I learn the science of medicine but the art of medicine from him.
He was a good friend and mentor who took me under his wing, and I thank him for it.
I spent days and days over the years trying to track him down from Flint to Williamsburg to Florida. Somehow I missed him and could never get a forwarding number. A regret on my part!
Rest well my friend. You will be missed.

Dr. Zarins was one of a kind hearted soul and one of the best at Flint Osteopathic Hospital. He had a quiet but friendly demeanor and will always be fondly remembered and respected for being a wonderful physician and human being. My sympathy and condolences to his family. May God be with you during your time or sorrow and there after to comfort his loss and his love warm your days after.

I worked Pediatrics at FOH. I enjoyed taking care of Dr. Zarins' patients because no matter their age , the kids and their parents seemed to have a good Dr. ,Patient relationship. He was patient with them and had a subtle, laid back demeanor , no matter the care intensity of his visits with them. They looked forward to seeing him when he was making his patient rounds. I learned so much from him , once I got over the intimidation that his, subtle, laid back demeanor could have over me, because sometimes it was hard to know what he was thinking, but that mystique also forced me to be on my toes to try to have the information he was looking for , which made me a better nurse. :He influenced me in a lot of ways in my career for which I am very grateful. When he left FOH it was difficult to say goodbye. I was blessed to have been able to work with him.I have so many great memories . I am so sorry Zarins Family for your loss of him. Sincerely , Jan Birmingham

A gentle kind caring soul that loved his work and his patients. I have never forgotten what he taught me and most of all how to acknowledge the importance of understanding the family unit. He knew what mattered in the life of children and not just when they were ill. But most of all he knew how to comfort in a quiet way. I will never forget him.

I am so sorry for your family. I was fortunate to know you all and I know how your hearts are broken. I had the privilege of working with him for 7 years. Such a kind man. To watch him with his patients was so heartwarming. He genuinely cared for those little ones and it showed. So many great memories of my years with him. Goodbye Dr. Z.

I had the honor and privilege to be an extern, 3rd and 4th year medical student under Dr Zarins 1992-1994.
No other attending doctor in my training matched his kindness, gentle manor and instincts of providing care. He left an immeasurable impact on me, as a father, a human and a doctor. He will be sadly missed. His clinic was filled with his family, and they treated my family as their own in kindness and consideration. Dr. Z, the difference you made in the world will not be forgotten.

The many many times that this loving doctor calmed this young mothers panicked mind is immeasurable! He always came in the exam room with a calm `so are you feeling poorly?´ When he retired from his Flint practice i cried like a baby. He was such a huge part of my first two children´s growing up. Both had allergies/asthma so we were in the office for shots or office visits weekly! He never made me feel foolish for asking many questions. Rest In Peace Dr. Zarins. We adored you.
