Skip Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2024.
Skip Edward Johnson went to be with Jesus on October 24, 2024. He was born January 2, 1951, in Rosenberg, Texas, to Merle and Shirley Johnson. Skip was proud of his service in the United States Navy. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with his Masters in Business and Finance.

He dedicated his life early on to helping others by becoming a teacher in the TDC Prison system. He continued his teaching career in numerous schools and at various levels of education, from Miracle Farms in Brenham, Washington County State School, and finally retiring from Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center. In 2006 Skip would continue to help others by adopting his son, Erick, followed by son Jorge in 2017. His love of helping brought him his greatest accomplishments in them.

He is survived by his sons Erick (Caitlin) Johnson of El Campo, Jorge of Richmond, sister Nancy Binford (Tom) of The Woodlands, sister-in-law Gay Johnson of Richmond, nephew Aaron and grandsons, Kamdyn and Silas Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marc Johnson.

His family would like to thank Sodalis Senior Living for their support in the last several months and all the friends he made during his time on Earth.

Per his request, the family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date and will be spreading his ashes throughout Arizona where he and his sons had the best vacation years ago.

Memorials may be sent to The Parkinson's Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
