Sonja Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24, 2015.
Sonja Elisabeth Brown went to be with the Lord during the night with family present on November 20, 2015.

Sonja was born in Germany to the late Josef and Elisabeth Meyer. Sonja narrowly survived World War II as a teen in West Germany. She achieved her H.S. diploma and worked as a trolley-car driver and in a factory. She married Eugene in 1950. She was an extremely wonderful mother (of 4) and supported her husband during his 20- year Army career. She held various part-time positions and volunteered with Silver Key Senior Services and Pikes Peak Christian Church.

She enjoyed family gatherings, oil painting, and outdoor activities (i.e. camping, fishing, boating, scenic drives, hot-spring pools, and walking.) She provided loving support to her parents who lived in Germany. She was gracious and caring to all who knew her. She will be missed and never forgotten by those who loved her.

She is survived by her son, Mitchell Brown and wife Betty Jo; her daughter, Tamara McCullough and husband, Robert; her grandchildren: Andrea Johnson and husband Brian; Amy Loniewsky and husband Robert; Kristy Alpert and husband Mark; Julia Swonger and husband, Steven; Christopher McCullough; and great-grandchildren: Madeline, Aidan, Ava, Audrey, Aspen, and Adam.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elisabeth and Josef Meyer; husband, Eugene Brown; and daughters, Rose and Marilyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Christian Church.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Rd. Graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held following the graveside service.
