Sonya Atkins Obituary
Sonya was employed at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Wethersfield, CT for 30 years. She was also a member of Grace Church in New Britain, CT.
"Miss Hollywood" was full of life and added excitement and laughter everywhere she went. Undeniably the life of the party, her presence exuded a light that could brighten anyone's day. She had a comedic and outspoken personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her caring and attentive nature was the glue that kept her tight knit family together; her children being the most important. A fierce and fabulous Diva, her memory will live on forever.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her mother Marie Owens and step father Larry Owens;
daughter - Latrina Jackson; son - Kevaughn Atkins; two sisters - Tasha Clayton, Penny Marie Roseboro; three brothers - Aaron Clayton, Tarik Clayton and Keith Clayton (predeceased); One step brother - Tyrone Owens; two step sisters - Monique Owens and Sharon Owens; Two granddaughters - Kaylee and Kylee Atkins; several aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Grace C M E Church, at Trinity on Main, 69 Main Street, New Britain., followed by a funeral service 4-5pm with the Rev. Thomas Mills presiding. New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. For directions or online messages, please visit www.newbritainsagarino.com.

I miss those afternoons we would listen to hot 93.7 and see who knew the lyrics to the newest songs. May the comfort of our Lord be with all of us who knew and loved Sonja. Sonya was a bright and upbeat person, and was so funny. I still remember her when she would enter the door at the salon when she and I would meet up. Sonja would come in and do a step from the door to the seating area and shout as loud as she could. " Hey Yawl !" Then all the crazy stories from her day would start rolling, along with all the laughs. Sonja was funny ,but when it was a time of needing some sound good advice, she would have a positive thought to leave you with,she spoke positively and made you feel blessed to have talked to her. I last saw Sonja at an event, I had the pleasure of introducing her to my husband. Little did I know that would be our last conversation. But again, she was positive and upbeat, I remember her telling my husband that I was a great person,and that he had a good wife. But that is what happens when you have positive and upbeat people in your life,Sonja was indeed that. I am thankful to God that we crossed path. Well Sonja until we meet again on the other side R.I.P, you will be greatly missed.

Sonya, I took my mid term exams lastnight I left feeling good. You always told me good luck and that I could do it. Im going to miss laughing and fussing with you (lol) you always tried to be the boss. The next time we have a party at work the baked beans and tuna mac salad wont be on the table. My condolences to the Clayton/Owens family on the loss of their loved one Sonya. She was indeed a beautiful person and will be missed by many, but forgotten by none. Praying that God wraps His arms around her mom, Mrs. Marie, her sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles but most of all her children and grandchildren. The world lost a great person. R.I.P. Sonya!
