Oh dear Georgianna....
I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Mimi....though we should all be so lucky to go as she did...in the comfort of her own beautiful home at 107!!! (Although didn't that courthouse burn down with her birth records???) I cannot tell you the vividly fond memories of her I have. Of you and I having our slumber parties at her apartment where everything was adorned with pink taffeta and bows and we ate her rice pudding for dessert. A little girls dream. She really was a surrogate grandmother to me. Her elegant, genteel nature had such an effect on me. I was such a little hellion and I swear she was the only one who could make me slow down and do my very best to act like a lady. Thinking of you all as you sit with this loss.

Love to all of your family.
Laurie

Ps. Clearly her life was a lesson in longevity so I'm heading out to get my powder puff today in her honor!

G,
A lovely obituary. Such an inspiration and I didn't realize she was 107, perhaps because she was ageless. Her grace and love of music lives on in you.
Hugs.

Dear Georgianna,

Your Mimi walked so gently, so proud, so impishly sweet through life and the flowers in her hair must have put a smile on her face daily as it did for everyone she encountered. No wonder she lived to be 107! No one who ever met her will forget her and I know the special place she had in your heart and that of your entire family. A loving embrace for you and your family.

Much love.

I called her "Lady Sophia" because that's the title she deserved and carried so well. I love that he preferred to be over dresses at any occasion. She definitely had her own personal style. I do remember many tea time at the Four Seasons Hotel, and as we would walk in , she would quietly say to me, "I feel like I own this place." She had a great sense of humor that I shared with her. I remember her playing the piano at our engagement party at the Lotos Club in NY. She had the party very special.
I'm going to miss you, Mimi! xoxo

With prayers and gratitude for this lovely woman and the grace and gentle care with which she embraced all friends and loved ones, and with prayers of tender comfort for her family.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. [...] I am the way, the truth, and the life..." (John 14:1-3,6)

I am terribly saddened to learn of Mimi's passing and your loss. She
was such a decorous matriarch. She imbued all the Pauls with her good
humor and kindness and in that way she will continue to live on in our
hearts. On a more personal note, I have fond memories of her sneaking
Dennis, Nik and me away from grade school at St. Albans on occasion in
order to get ice cream cones at Swenson's. Even at that young age, I
knew it was not the ice cream I was enjoying as much as her great
company and storytelling. I pray your wonderful memories of her will
sustain you through your time of sorrow.

I'm really sad to hear this news that Mimi has passed away. I hope you and your
family are doing as well as can be expected.

I remember the hollowness after my
dad died so know what you guys are feeling. I also remember how much it meant to me to see old friends at his funeral, so I really wish I could be there on Saturday with you. But I'm unable to make it to DC, regrettably, so won't be able to join your family for the memorial service.

I know that Saturday is supposed be a lovely spring day in DC, and I like to
think that's Mimi's doing to help make the day a bit easier for everyone she
left behind.

I am so sad to hear this. I know it must be a difficult new reality to accept, an end of an era - even though she lead such a rich, long life and that should be celebrated. What a rare and true blessing to have a grandmother who influenced and knew you so well. You will carry her in your spirit always.
