Spencer Westhuis Obituary
Spencer was born and raised in the Holland area, and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated in 2009 from West Ottawa High School, and in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering from Michigan State University. He was currently working for Lincoln Electric in Ohio.
Preceding him in death was his maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Nieboer in 2003.
He is survived by his parents, Rod and Jillayne Westhuis of Holland; a sister, Quincy Westhuis of Holland; grandparents, Beverly (Ed) Mulder, John (Norma) Westhuis, Clyde (Chris) Nieboer; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Bolhuis.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at Lakeshore Memorial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, or the VFW Post 2144 in Holland.

Dear Westhuis Family,
My husband and I met your son while living in Roanoke. We too lived at the River House. We met him at a neighbor's and became casual friends. A group of us would play trivia at the bar. I am shocked and saddened to learn about his passing. He was such a good person and I'm so sorry for your loss. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Westhuis Family,
I would like to offer you my condolences on Spencer's passing. We met in Ronaoke through a flag football meetup and later became good friends. Our favorite hangout was at The Wasena TapRoom, where everyone loved and adored him like Cheer's Frasier. I have some really good memories of him. He was always a cheerful and happy person. Later I moved out of Roanoke but we still kept in touch. May God give you courage and strength. His loss is deeply felt in my heart!

Dear Westhuis Family, I am so sorry to hear of Spencer's passing. I oversee the Holland Youth Advisory Council and we were just getting addresses together and tracking down former HYAC students to have a reunion at Christmas time when we heard the news. It will be sad to not have him there. I'm so sorry for your loss! I'm sure he will be missed by many.

You might not remember me, but when you came to visit Spencer in Roanoke, VA I had the great pleasure of meeting his mom and dad.
I was grieved to hear of Spencer's passing this morning at church. Please know that he was DEARLY LOVED by his City Light Church family.
I attended small group with him and he was a delightful addition to our motley crew. He was a sweet spot every Wednesday night. He always spoke to my children.
I don't have impressive stories to tell or great memories, but I just want you all to know that WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN HIM AND GRIEVE WITH YOU IN THIS TIME. We have and will pray for you.

So sad and grieved. Very sorry to hear about Spencer. Know that we are praying for him right now. What a heartbreaking loss. The souls of the just are in the hand of God and no torment will ever touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure from us was thought to be an affliction, and their going from us to be utter destruction, but they are at peace. Their hope is full of immortality, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of Himself.
