Stacy Burke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 2, 2022.
Stacy Nicole Burke, 39, and Jack Marlin Burke, 4, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Buchanan Dam, Texas.

Words cannot adequately describe the life of Stacy, daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and attorney dedicated to seeking justice. She was a remarkable spirit in this world and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Stacy passed away while trying to save the life of her son, Jack, who was also lost on this day. The sadness we feel is beyond compare as we must announce Jack's return to his heavenly home.

Stacy was born on June 29th, 1982 in Taft, Texas and raised in Woodsboro, Texas by her loving parents David and Judy Marlin. She was a graduate of Woodsboro High School. Her passion for justice led her to the University of Texas at San Antonio where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Stacy then continued her education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock to complete her Juris Doctorate degree. Stacy utilized her talents and compassion for others to begin her career in 2007 as an assistant district attorney for Midland County, Texas. In 2011, she moved to Llano, Texas and became assistant district attorney for Blanco, Burnet, Llano and San Saba Counties. In 2018, she began working in the private sector as an attorney for Shell and Shell Law Firm in Marble Falls, Texas.

Jack was born in Austin, Texas on August 16th, 2017 to Mark and Stacy Burke and raised in Buchanan Dam, Texas. To say Jack was full of life is to only tell half the story. Jack was fearless in his life adventures, yet cautious and curious about the people he met. His only fear was missing out on times he could spend with those he loved. Jack mostly enjoyed snuggling with his mother, being on the water and mowing with his father, riding the tractor with his Poppa, and being cared for by his Meme. His love of tractors and trucks was demonstrated in every inside room and outdoor space he occupied. He was a builder of all things, mechanically inclined, and destined to become an engineer. Jack could brighten any room with sheer exuberance, giving smiles away freely. He will be missed by everyone who was privileged enough to know him.

Stacy and Jack are preceded in death by grandparents and great grandparents Jack Marlin, Roger Speis, and Mildred West. Stacy and Jack are survived by loving husband and father Mark Burke, daughter and sister Sadee Burke, and stepchildren and siblings, Joseph, Matthew, and Morgan Burke. They will be forever loved by parents and grandparents, David and Judy Marlin, grandmother and great grandmother, Alice Speis, sisters and aunts Audrey Trevino (Chris) and Cheryl Russell (Adam), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Pallbearers are Stuart Barron, Alan Burke, Matthew Burke, Steve Durrett, Adam Russell, Tyler Russell, Jeremy Speis, Steven Speis, Chris Trevino, and Isaac Trevino.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday June 4, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home, 402 South Alamo Street, Refugio, Texas. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio County. Fellowship with family will follow graveside services at Faith United Church, 405 Wood Avenue, Woodsboro, Texas.

Stacy was so sweet and kind as a child, just as she was an adult. In the back of my mind, and I know I´m not supposed to, but I do ask God why. Why her and her little boy? She was so good! I´ll never know, not while we are living in this life. I still keep her parents and other family in my prayers. Father God, all I ask at this time is to favor David and Judy, please give them comfort and peace in their hearts and lives. Allow them to feel your presence and your love everyday. Stacy you and Jack will live on in so many hearts. You are both loved always

Stacy and Jack your love and memories will always be in our . There isn't a day that goes by that something is said or done that reminds us of you. Even though your life's were cut very short here your memories will always be life long to those your hearts have touched. We will meet again someday where death will never be able to separate us again.
Thinking of you both,
Billie

I did not have the pleasure to meet Jack, however, Stacy was a very dear co-worker at the District Attorney's Office. I offer my prayers for Stacy and Jack as well as my deepest condolences to Mark and all of Stacy's family.

Stacy was such a genuine person who will be greatly missed. She made my time in law school so enjoyable and I feel lucky to have known her.

"I wouldn´t be the person I am today without her"- my daughter, a child who Stacy represented.

I wish I had met her in any other situation than what we did, I felt called to be her friend, I thought she was awesome.

I told her that she was the only light in the darkness, in the worst time of my life. She was a counselor as much as an attorney and I was so, so thankful for her in that time, and I will forever be grateful for her..... for her advice, and her ear, for her time, and how she was with my children and for the great passion and relentless pursuit for justice for them, which she did get.

God Bless your family, may the Lord hold you now in this tremendous loss.

Thank you Stacy... for everything

My heart breaks for you loss. No one will know the pain and heart ache you feel like you and your family. For that I wish for that to ease...knowing it will never fully go away. Only time, your faith and leaning on those who love you unconditionally where you are now and where you are going on this next chapter of your life you'll get there. You will find the strength to move forward - two guardian angels now sit on your shoulders. With love and respect to you and your family.
