Stanley Boyer

Stanley E. Boyer, 81, a native of Mullen, Nebraska for most of his life, passed away Tuesday morning, March 28, 2023, at Linden Court in North Platte, Nebraska.

He was born on November 7, 1941, to Stanley N. Boyer “Buck” and Kathleen I. (Pearman) Boyer “Kat”. He was preceded in death by his wife (divorced) and mother of his children, Billie (James) Boyer, and special friend, Audrey (Simonson) McPeak, as well as his parents.

Stan is survived by his two children April Sitler (Neal) and Omaji Andaria (formerly Andria Schenbeck); three brothers, Woodrow “Dale” Boyer, Ron Boyer, and Doug Boyer; one sister, Nellie (Boyer) McCarty; and Audrey’s family of two daughters, Kathy (McPeak) Leibhart and her son Darren and Alicia (McPeak) Fraley and her son, Nicholas and daughter Danielle.

Stanley served in the Nebraska National Guard for 21+ years and retired as a Staff Sergeant from Battery B, 1st Battalion, 168th Field Artillery. His primary role was a Medical Corpsman, and he received a Certificate of Appreciation for his “unyielding efforts in the training and development of young soldiers during both duty and personal off-duty time” in the Nebraska State Retention Program when he served as a Unit Retention NCO in 1985.

As a civilian he spent nearly 30 years in the construction industry.  Stanley rose to the level of Superintendent of Road Construction with Missouri Valley Construction, followed by Gilbert Central and later Peter Kiewit building the original Interstate 80 from North Platte, Nebraska up through Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was the recipient of many safety awards on numerous occasions for leading his crew through hundreds of man hours without a safety incident.

Stan was a person with great determination and had many interests and talents. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, watching TV, or telling jokes and stories. He also won his share of pool tournaments, bowling trophies, scratch off prizes, lotteries, and poker tournament pots.

Stan loved to learn and continually tried new things-unless it was food which he rarely deviated from his favorites. He was a natural giver and generous with his time and resources. He loved helping others and never met a stranger. Stan enjoyed making others laugh and gave everyone a bad time. He especially adored children and animals which always held a special place in his heart.

The family will hold a visitation for friends and acquaintances to share special memories about the Stan they knew and celebrate his life in person on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Mountain Time at the Mullen Funeral Home in Mullen, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family welcomes cards and notes or Memorials that will be dedicated to a cause to be determined.

Stanley requested cremation and will be buried in the Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen, Nebraska. The public is welcome to attend the graveside service with Military Funeral Honors which will be held at 10:00AM Mountain Time on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
