Stanley Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2024.
Stanley M Johnson passed peacefully December 27, 2024, in Edgewater, Florida, formerly of Bemus Point, with his family by his side following a lengthy battle with cancer

Born in Bemus Point, NY, the son of Agnes and Larry Johnson. He was a 1968 graduate of Bemus Point CSD. He loved Bemus Point and his fellow classmates. He enjoyed helping plan the class reunions and reuniting with them, remaining friends with many of them throughout his life.

Following HS he went to JCC for a year before enlisting in his beloved US Marine Corps. Stan was proud of his service and his country. He was a decorated Marine serving from 1970-1972 He received the rie marksmanship and good conduct metals while serving in the Second Recon Battalion. He loved his Corp responding 'once a Marine, always a Marine' and 'I can stand anything for a minute.' He celebrated every November 10 (the Marine Corps Birthday) with a shot of tequila no matter where he was.

After the Marine Corps he married his wife Debbie. He nished his JCC diploma, and worked at Carnahans, Dahlstrom, Jamestown Metal Manufacturing, started his own fuel oil business, and eventually working for the county for 30 years as a social welfare examiner. He really enjoyed helping and counseling his clients and was respected by them.

The most favorite part of his life was the family farm, his animals, gardens, and day lilies. He loved spending weekends on the lake and boating with friends, BP concerts and playing blow up instruments with his friends. Dancing the night away at the Vikings or the Green Door (Tom's Tavern), or under the moonlight out by the barn with his wife. Trips to Charlotte for the races with 'the guys.' Traveling the Caribbean or going to Mexico every year. Later in life, spending time dancing at the clubhouse or meeting his Florida friends on Thursday nights at the Legion. But, he most loved spending time with his family. Whether it be sitting by the re or hanging around the pool. His family meant the world to him.

Stan leaves behind His wife Debbie of 51 (long-hard, as he used to like her to say) years, his son Mat (Mary), his grandchildren Emma Johnson, and Kai (Danny) Mishler, and great grandson Forrest, all of Florida. A sister Margaret Jensen of Fulton, NY, a brother Philip of Jamestown, NY, and a sister Sally Smith of Rochester, NY, and many nieces and nephews with whom he spent many good moments over His lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Larry Johnson of Bemus Point, a sister, Barbara Miller, and a brother David Johnson.

Overall he had a full, happy life. Living it to the fullest. Always up for the adventure and making the most of it.

At Stan's request no funeral or visitation will be held. A private wake will be held at a future date.
