Slugger was a good friend from way back. He could follow a block and stiff arm too score, tackle with abandon, turn a double play, fly a bobsled off No-Par to the far snow bank of Orchard Street and march in the Comet's. May You Rest in Peace with the Angels. Dave Bonney

We were walking back from a track meet. We ran on a horse track then. We were walking and talking and were almost to Charlie's Pizza and Slug wasn't paying attention and was walking in thr middle of the street. An old lady was driving a car and stopped right on his foot. She was scared and screaming. Slug was screaming telling her to pull off his foot. Anyway it seemed like forever but she finally drove off his foot and we helped him get to the high school. He wore a cast for awhile and missed the rest of track season.

My first memory of `Slugger" is when he was brought home after being born. I grew up in the apartment above the Martins.

I think I will always remember being taken skiing by him and his ex wife to Lost Valley and Sunday River in a BLUE FORD PINTO.
A true classic.
