Stefano Esposto Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 29, 2021.
It is with great sadness that the family of Stefano ("Steve") Esposto announce his peaceful passing in Hamilton on the morning of December 26th. Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend will be forever remembered. It is fitting that he passed away on the day which honours Santo Stefano, a day which was always important to him. Stefano "Paradiso" will be missed dearly by his devoted wife of sixty-five years, Carmelina Sciollintano, children, Beniamino Esposto ("Bennie"), Rosa Maria Morreale ("Rose"), Angela Hruska and Eduardo Esposto ("Eddie"), sons-in-law, Nick and Gerry, and daughters-in-law, Fran and Talitha. Nonno will never be forgotten by his grandchildren, Charlene, Lauren, Nicole, Vincent, Natasha, Alexandra and Stefano, and his great grand-children Domenica, Tiana, Addison, Evelyn, Violet and Anthony. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Giuseppe ("Joe") and sister-in-law, Carmela. Fond memories of Uncle Steve will always be remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was a devoted son to his father, Beniamino, and his mother, Rosa, both of whom passed away many years ago, but remained very much in his heart and thoughts until the end. One of the many successful post-war immigrants to Canada from his hometown of Racalmuto, Sicily, Stefano was an accomplished businessman, prize-winning bocce player (often paired with his dear brother-in-law, Calogero), passionate gardener (particularly of world-class tomatoes), avid fisherman, expert wine-maker, and proud Catholic.

A private family service will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home by invitation only, on December 30th, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, his final resting place. A live stream of the service will be available at 1:00 p.m. on the Bay Gardens Funeral Home website. Donations in Stefano's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. A celebration of Stefano's life will be scheduled at a time when all can safely be present together.

Eric and I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to my Zia Carmela and all my cousins and family. During this holiday season, I am reminded of all the wonderful Christmases our families spent together. I'm so glad my father spent time with Uncle Steve before his passing. He will be sadly missed. Sending everyone love and a big virtual hug.
