Stella "Sue" Irene Blevins, 85, of Palatka, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. Born May 14, 1923 in White Top, she had been a resident of Palatka since 1976 coming from Marion. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Palatka. She was one of the greatest prayer warriors who ever lived. It was as if she had a direct line to heaven. If you asked her to pray for you, you could consider it done. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb "clean up to her elbow." She was an amazing woman, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death are her husband, Jacob Astor Blevins, a son, Teddy Charles Blevins, her parents, Dewey and Mary Blevins, numerous brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Jacob G. Blevins. Survivors include her five sons, Jackie Blevins Sr. of Keystone Heights, Astor "Noonie" Blevins and wife, Freda, of Saltville, Steve Blevins and wife, Sue, of Abingdon, Scotty Blevins and wife, Kim, of Chilhowie, and Jackie Blevins Jr. of Palatka; two daughters, Linda Freese and husband, Philip, of East Palatka and Tina O'Neal and husband, Jerry, of Palatka; two sisters, Ann Edwards of White Top, and Margaret Burchem of Woodlawn; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday at the Azen Cemetery in Konnarock. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Aunt Susie was one of the most remarkable and loving human beings
that the Lord put on this earth. She was my Mom's oldest sister and, indeed, a beautiful woman. I was blessed by just knowing such an exceptional person. I know she is in heaven now and rejoicing to see so many friends and family. She was a gift!!!!!!
