Stella Sbrilli

AGE: 87 • Highland Park

Stella Sbrilli, 87, peacefully went to her heavenly home on April 12, 2016. One of six children, Estelle Cecilia Siliwono was born in New Brunswick, N.J. on November 7, 1928. She graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1947 and married her beloved husband, Reynold, in 1948 at Sacred Heart Church, New Brunswick. Stella was a devoted wife, mother, and member of her church community. She found great joy in providing a loving home for her husband and six children. She and Reynold worked side by side sharing their passion for home repair, remodeling and yard work. She found joy in exercise, often seen jogging or taking long walks in the neighborhood and beyond. When not cheering on her children at school sporting events, she worked part time in St. Paul's School cafeteria and at the borough polling place during local elections.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Deborah Dewees and son-in-law, Bill of North Brunswick, and four sons; Reynold, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Catherine of Martinsville; Arthur and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of North Brunswick; Paul and daughter-in-law, Theresa of Durham, NH; and son, Daniel and Denise DeMilio Hillsborough. Stella has also been blessed with 11 grandchildren. Robyn Sabo of Abingdon, MD, William Dewees III of Brooklyn, NY, Katie Sickles of Milltown, Alex Sbrilli of Orlando, FL, Lauren Sbrilli, of Fairfield, CT, Joseph Sbrilli of West Palm Beach, FL, Christian Sbrilli and Gina Sbrilli, both of Durham, NH, and Nicole Sbrilli, Jessica Sbrilli and Marissa Sbrilli, all of Hillsborough. Six precious great-grandchildren have been added to Stella's family tree: Aiden, Ryan, and Avery Sabo of Abingdon, MD and Jack, Lily, and Tyler Sickles of Milltown. Stella is also survived by one brother, Michael Siliwono of Somerset, N.J. Finally, Stella is survived by her devoted caregiver and best friend, Charlotte Houghton. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Reynold and baby daughter, Patricia Anne.

Relatives and friends may call from 5-9 pm on Monday, April 18th at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am on Tuesday, April 19th at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) 502 Raritan Avenue, Highland Park. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. "Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."

Debbie and family,

My sincerest condolences on the passing of your Mom. I have such sweet remembrances of chatting with her from St. Paul's and then in HP after we graduated. What a lovely family she and your Dad created. Bless you all.

My neighbor and mother of my childhood best friend, Art, always made me feel as one of the family seamlessly. Her life was full with family, church, the beloved family dog, and her beautiful home, complete with a traditional family parlor. My mother and I drove down South Fifth Avenue briefly as we were attending my Uncle Zolton's funeral just after Easter Sunday and immediately spoke wondering how Mrs. Sbrilli was doing. She was always in our thoughts as we went back home to the neighborhood.
