Stephanie French Obituary
June 12, 1964 - April 20, 2025
Stephanie "Spunky" French (Martinez), a loving daughter, devoted mother, and cherished sister, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in San Luis Obispo, California, at the age of 60.
Born on June 12, 1964, at San Jose Hospital in San Jose, California, Stephanie was the beloved daughter of Daniel and Delia Martinez. She grew up in the close-knit communities of San Martin and Gilroy, later making homes in Fresno and Atascadero before settling in Morro Bay.
Affectionately known as "Spunky" by those closest to her, Stephanie was known for her vibrant personality, quick wit, and fierce love for her family. She worked for many years at Atascadero State Hospital, where she was respected for her dedication and compassion.
Stephanie is survived by her loving daughter, Amber French Castillo, and Amber's husband, Rafael Castillo; her siblings, Danny Martinez, Yvonne Gutierrez (and husband Mike), Sandra Michaels (and husband Sam), and Elizabeth Martinez; her nephews Michael Gutierrez (and wife May Ketpongsuda Gutierrez) and Joseph Michaels; her grand-nieces Serena Michaels, Melody Gutierrez and Maisie Gutierrez, and her adored grand-dog, Ruckus. She is also remembered fondly by numerous cousins and friends whose lives she touched.
Stephanie was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. Her warmth, humor, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her passing has left an indescribable void in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, watching over us. Though we grieve, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the love she gave so freely.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Reis Family Mortuary and Crematory, 991 Nipomo Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Stephanie's memory to the SLO Food Bank, 1180 Kendall Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

Sister, I miss you deeply every single day. The ache in my heart feels endless. There´s so much I wish I could tell you, so many things I want to ask and hear your thoughts on-then I remember you´re no longer here. You were taken far too soon, my sweet baby sister, but I hold tightly to the memories we made together. The only comfort I find is knowing that God had a purpose for your life, and that one day, we´ll be together again.
