Stephanie Selick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 24, 2024.
Stephanie Grace Selick (1989-2024)

Stephanie (aka Stephie, Steph and Duckie) passed away in spring 2024 and was predeceased by her adored dog, Chewie, and survived by her other dogs, Marli and Bear. She was also survived by her parents, brother, his wife and 3 beautiful nieces. Stephanie attended Ralston Middle School, Notre Dame and Carlmont High Schools and Cal Poly. She had a passion for activities such as soccer, cross country, horseback riding, golf, tennis, snowboarding, skateboarding, paddle tennis and the arts, including her love of singing. She was a production assistant in Southern California for many years and returned to Northern California to be closer to family, especially her nieces. Stephanie had a smile that could light up a room and blue sparkling, mischievous eyes, and quick wit. She traveled extensively including Scotland, England, Italy, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Washington, DC, New York, Maryland, Florida, Nevada and Hawaii. Stephanie would drop anything she was doing to help a family member or friend. She will be forever loved and missed and never forgotten, and her family and friends cherish the years that they had with her, wishing only that she had been able to live longer to achieve her dreams. Her family will have a small private celebration of life. We ask that in lieu of flowers that her friends and family post favorite pictures here on what will be a perpetual tribute to her gentle and kind soul.

Stephanie and I first met when she was working in Santa Monica CA. I was immediately drawn to her kind heart and her hilarious sense of humor. That was the beginning of a very special friendship. We shared so many incredible conversations around faith, family and future. Stephanie was full of curiosity and dreams. We had the beautiful opportunity to become roommates and she practically became a younger sister. I have so many random memories of her sneaking into my bedroom in the morning and surprising me with a hot coffee and ideas of what we would go do that day. Through the years as life happened and distance naturally occurred while raising a family-none of that mattered. Stephanie knew at any phone call I would be there for her. We have always had a special bond and I think about her all of the time. Stephanie was truly one of a kind- I know people often say that, but in her case there was way more truth to that statement. She was loving and kind and had the most incredible spirit. I miss you more than words can describe and the world just won´t ever be the same without you in it beautiful Stephanie (Duckie)

Hello, my name is Sara Tinney, maiden name "Sara Arbogast". Steph and I first met in my sophomore year her freshman year of high school and we quickly became close friends. Steph´s high energy, big smile, big blue eyes, and her kind heart is what made her so special and unique. We were friends up until her passing. I had not seen her for a few years due to the busy everyday life and I moving to Sonora with my children working full time as a nurse. Steph and I would often talk on the phone and text about her visiting us in Sonora, CA to spend the weekend and remember our younger years. Steph and I were two peas in a pod. When she was upset I consoled her and when she saw me unhappy she was my biggest supporter. We had many wonderful memories together eating good food out, I remember she especially loved Japanese chicken teriyaki with white rice! We also loved to go to the beach, snowboard, hang out and watch movies, and just relax.
I´ve been in tears for many weeks now about Steph and will never forget this wonderful soul who was taken too soon. Please continue to visit me in my dreams as you were and always will be a light in my life. Love your friend Sara

We adored Stephanie. She was our magical little imp. Her smile was as big as her heart. She adopted my mother as her grandmother and me as well. One of those truly special people who came from a world of her own, and it was always a lovely place to be when you were near it.

I met Stephanie the summer going in to high school. We immediately `clicked´ and became very close friends. Throughout the twenty-one years of friendship we shared, we had countless laughs, good memories, celebrated different milestones and accomplishments ; but we were also there for one another through the rough times. We sometimes went years without seeing each other since she lived in SoCal and I was living in NorCal- but one thing that always remained unchanged was our special bond that we shared. We would always just have the best time when we would hang out. When Steph moved back to the Bay Area in 2019, I was so excited to have one of my best friends live close to me, again! I am thankful we got to create memories that I will hold close to my heart, forever. Stephanie truly was a once-in-a-lifetime friend. Her heart was so big & she truly cared so much about the people she loved. The care and love she showed to others was unwavering. The love she had for her family, especially her nieces was so special. Also, she was obsessed with her dogs. Getting to have Stephanie in my life, was one of the biggest blessings. I wish she was still here, as she had so much more to accomplish on this earth. However, I know she is in peace looking down from Heaven watching over all of her loved ones. Since she´s left, she took a piece of everyone´s heart as she is greatly missed. I will be forever grateful that God blessed me with such an amazing and beautiful friend. I will love & miss her forever, until we see each other again.
