Steve was truly one of the good guys! I met Steve over 40 years ago at the Memphis Film Festival. He and his family were always a joy to see at the Festival. He will be missed and my condolences to his family.

Very sorry for your loss... It was always a pleasure to see Steve at the Memphis Film Festival and had asked about him at the most recent one in June. He was a great guy and a lot of fun to talk with.

Dear family, I'm so sorry to hear of your great loss. I've only known your father since 2006. My grandmother had stroke at 94 years old. Up until that point she was still driving, living on her own, and doing her door to door ministry even up to and including that day. But from that point forward, she was never able to walk or care for herself again. She remained in her own home, with care, until her death two years later. Steve Allen (and Wanda) would come over to visit my grandmother every Friday night and Saturday night for 3 hours at a time so that my husband and I could have some of the weekend alone together. Those nights were the highlight of my grandmother's last two years of life. Of course he would have her laughing. But not only that, he would get her to talk and recall memories and he would listen to her (even though most would never give her the chance to talk as the stroke delayed her responses, and her voice was weak and slurred). He would study the Bible study lessons, the Watchtower, with her for the study meeting. And they would sing the songs that were to be sung at the Sunday meeting. I'll never forget his unexpected kindness and the respite it provided for me, knowing she was not just being visited (her caretakers were there as well) but was with someone who treated her like family. It was always a hoot to get to be in the car group with him during the door to door ministry as well. It was not hard to love Steve Allen. We will all miss him.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. You are right in saying he always loved making people laugh. Your Dad was a Godly man and he loved the Lord. I´m sure his precious Mother was right there with him guiding him up the stairs to Heaven. May our Lord wrap his loving arms around you both as you grieve your earthly Father. He will be missed by many
