Stephen David Arata, Sr. passed away on February 21, 2018. He was born December 23, 1935 in Pleasantville, NJ to Gertrude and Louis Arata, Sr. He grew up in Philadelphia, PA where he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Melady, in 1957. They raised five children together in Vienna, VA: Stephen (Lisa Goff), James (Marya), Jeanne (Philip DeJong), Virginia (Gary Reese), and Louis (Kathryn Lyndes). He was preceded in death by his loving wife; his sisters, Gertrude, Virginia, Lois, Constance, Marian; and his brother John. Steve served in the Air Force before working as an Air Traffic Controller for 25 years in the metro DC area. He spent the last few years of his life in Ukiah and Willits, CA. He is survived by his brother Louis Arata, Jr.; his five children; his nine grandchildren, Wes, Connie, Ryan, Ali, Emma, Haley, Grace, Faith, and Jesse; and his two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Oliver.

R.I.P Steve.i still have the memories of you teaching your 1st grandson his 1st words they were off on and his 1st hair cut he looked so scared.you are dearly missed and Dorthy R.I.P is also missed.
