Family-Placed Death Notice

BOYCE, Stephen Stephen Fredrick Boyce, 57, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, died on December 29, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Leigh, daughters Theresa Lordemann (32) (and husband Nathan) and Megan Norkunas (17), sons Andy (30) (and wife Heidi), Aaron (14), and Patrick (14). He is the son of the late Ernest and Betty Boyce of Atlanta and brother to Gary Boyce of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Peter Boyce of Dacula, Georgia, and Douglas Boyce of Marietta, Georgia. He was also the proud grandfather of Chloe Lordemann (2), Harrison (3) and Caroline (1) Boyce. Mr. Boyce was a graduate of Marist High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his Master's degree from Columbia Pacific University. A professional educator and administrator, Mr. Boyce served a variety of roles in education, including that of teacher, counselor, and administrator. In the latter part of his career, he served as headmaster of the Waldorf School of Atlanta. Prior to that, he served for several years as the Dean of Admissions at Brandon Hall School in Atlanta and as Assistant Principal and Principal at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, Georgia. Mr. Boyce died peacefully from complications with pneumonia, following a two and half year struggle with a C-4 spinal injury which left him paralyzed. Following his injury, he was constantly surrounded by his beloved brother Peter, his loving children and grandchildren, and his incredibly devoted Wife, Leigh. Mr. Boyce will be remembered as many things by all: wonderful father and grandfather, loving husband, lifelong educator, diehard Tarheel basketball fan, moving writer and speaker, attentive and devoted friend, and most of all, kind and laving soul. Visitation for the family of Mr. Boyce will be held Wednesday from 6-8 at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 11 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shepherd Center Foundation at http://www.shepherd.org/charitable- giving. Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel. (770)277-4550.

I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you. I lost my husband a year ago, after an extended illness, so I do know what you are going through. I will always remember Steve fondly. Please know that you will be in my prayers.

I also took care of Steve at Shepherd and we instantly bonded. Not only because of his sweet soul but because he shared his name with my dog :) who I'm sure is now giving him kisses in heaven for all of you. I am very sorry for your loss and will have your family in my prayers.

I will miss my friend, a man I could count on to be as loyal to me as I was to him. We shared a world view, and I felt bonded to Steve. I hope he meets up with my wife Sandy on the other side, they would get along well.
