Stephen Brody Obituary

Published by San Jose Mercury News/San Mateo County Times on Aug. 7, 2014.
Stephen Sydney Brody
1953 - 2014
Resident of Los Gatos
Our irreverent, courageous and most beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend took his last breath early Wednesday morning August 6th, surrounded by his loved ones.
Steve was born and raised near Boston in Needham, Massachusetts, graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and ultimately settling in Los Gatos for the past many years.
Steve is survived by his adoring wife Miriam, his loving son Ryan, his big brother Mike (Judi), too many nieces and nephews to name, and a large, loving extended family and community of friends, who already miss him dearly.
Ryan's friends loved congregating at the house with Big Steve, the perpetual entertainer, deliverer of sophomoric humor, and confidante, where Steve might be found playing one of the guitars or basses from his ever expanding collection, cheering on the Celtics, Red Sox or Patriots, depending on the season, or engaging in one of his lengthy, relentless workouts. There was never a lobster or chowder Steve encountered that he didn't want to devour.
Steve founded executive recruiting firm Brody Executive Search in 1982. For over twenty-five years, he used his unique combination of instinct and expertise to place CEOs and Vice Presidents in Silicon Valley high technology firms.
Services will be held Friday, August 8th at 1 pm at Congregation Shir Hadash, 20 Cherry Blossom Lane, Los Gatos. Burial immediately following at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose. Gathering to follow at the Brody home.
Steve, you are forever in our hearts.

Dear Miriam and Ryan,
Today is September 2nd, and I just heard about Steve's passing. Steve and I were best friends and band mates through the Needham High years. Rarely a night went by that we didn't practice at his home much to the chagrin of Myer & Ethel (who were like second parents in many ways). Though we lost touch over the years as friends often do, we reconnected briefly to say 'hi' 4 or 5 years I ago on Facebook. And even though Steve and I were separated by time and distance we always maintained the love and remembrances of true friendship. I am truly sorry for your loss, and hope his lively and loving spirit will remain and comfort you both in the years to come. Bless you both.

Dear Miriam and Ryan, we are all thinking of you and lifting you and family in prayer right now. I will miss Steve and his humor, and hearing him call you "Mir"(meer) with love. I miss hearing him play his beautiful guitars. We are here for you. Love Marie Reuter
