Popcorn, pudding, choc milk, and computer games , my sons spent a lot of time with Steve. He was a good friend to Jim and Andy Schrage. Steve was happy and fun to have at our house. He will be missed by anyone who knew him. Maryanne Schrage.

I was in Steve´s class at H-F. I remember him as friendly and funny. I don´t have any stories to share - none that I can remember anyway. I just wanted to share my condolences with his family and friends.

Stephen was one of my very first soccer coaches in Athens, GA. I have such great memories of him in his Nisssan Z, managing to put up with a (very) rowdy group of teenage Athens girls. I was so sorry to hear of his passing, and I pray for peace and strength for those who love him.

I had the privilege of being one of Mr. Buckner´s drama students at McEachern, and his influence has stayed with me ever since. He encouraged each of us to take on roles that pushed our boundaries and helped us grow as individuals and performers. He gave every student his full attention, leading with grace, patience, and genuine care.
His humor was contagious, and his smile lit up any room he entered. He created a space where we felt safe to express ourselves, take creative risks, and build confidence both on and off the stage. It´s difficult to put into words the depth of loss felt by those of us who were shaped by his kindness and talent. A life and spirit like his is impossible to forget. He will always be remembered - not just for what he taught, but for how he made each of us feel seen, valued, and inspired.
It was a pleasure to have known such an outstanding soul. God bless his family and friends during this difficult time, and may he rest in eternal peace.

Fun guy always smiling even in bad nights, has been trying to sell me his comics for the longest as they were dropped to him. Our conversations were always comics because he didn´t know much of them and I would share the delights of what he had no expensive or special just reading them was my adventure and he chuckled it as I told the story of them.
That is what I known him more beside hanging out at four treys were neighbors.

I´m stunned at Coach Buckner´s loss at such an early age. As the choral director at McIntosh while Steven was teaching drama, we worked on musicals together and he was brilliant at leading teenagers. I particularly remember his productions of Godspell and Nunsense. Every young woman in Nunsense went on to get a professional degree in music or became a professional actress or performer. We tried to keep each other out of trouble, but both of us failed at that. I was amazed by his girl´s soccer teams, which were near the state championship every year. I attended many games and watched his students fly about the field taking apart other team´s defenses. I seem to hear his voice just now saying, "I´ll see you later, Doc," and it comforts me. - Franklin Green

Your smile and kindness left an imprint on so many. Grateful we were friends from so many years ago. I am so sorry you left us - May love and peace surround you in the comfort of knowing you are forever in many hearts. Until we meet again my friend. Rest easy.
