Here's a funny short story. Steve and I and our dogs and about twenty other people with their dogs would meet-up at Dog's Beach every morning. Don't know for how many years. But we did...usually dressed in sloppy old clothes. One day I walk into the Brig in La Mesa with a group of my work friends. Steve is there with his. And he looks sharp! He's dressed in expensive looking casual wear. I'm in a business suit. Not thinking I greet him with, "Hey Steve! So that's how you look with real clothes on." Steve doesn't miss a beat with his, "You too!" response. The patio area went silent for a moment as jaws hit the table. We all had a good, long laugh. And so I will always remember Steve with a laugh.

Stephen Deutsch was my math teacher at Valhalla High School during my freshman year with a good sense of humor in which I'll never forget those days. I enjoyed chatting with him even when he's not teaching. I send my hearts and prayers to his family and friends who will miss him very much. Thanks for everything.
