Dear Stephen,

I had the joy of meeting you a few times-in Colorado and in Europe-and those moments remain so vivid. The time and talks we shared were truly special. You were such a cool, charming, and incredibly kind soul-the kind of friend everyone dreams of having. Your warmth, openness, and friendliness made every encounter unforgettable.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of your passing. My heart goes out to Heather and your family. I wish them strength, love, and endless support as they navigate through this very tough time. May they find comfort in the countless beautiful memories you created and in the love that surrounds them.

You will be remembered with great fondness and gratitude.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Gregor Kern

Heather and Steven's ranch, to those who had the fortunate chance to be a guest, was more than a nature reprieve. One of the fondest memories I have, after the wonderful conversations and laughs around amazing food, was the sweet opportunity that Steve gave me to quite literally call the horses in to dinner. Seeing a herd, maybe two, immediately turn their gaze, then their stride as they galloped toward the stables, all in formation (a near single-file) are precious moments I shall never forget. Heartfelt sympathy and goodbye. And Heather, let's talk soon.

You will be missed. Having known you for over 25 years both as a friend and as a hired professional electrician, this truly is a sad day. The heavens are getting the best horse wrangler there is. As you ride off into the sunset with your many equine from the past, watch over those you loved. RIP Steve.
Heather, my condolences for your loss. There are no words that can express my grief and sadness. Stay strong and remember all that Steve was. May the thundering hoofs of his final ride be forever remembered in your heart.

Heather,

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I only met Stephen once, when you were in Amsterdam - which must have been over 10 years ago. We took a boat trip, and I talked to him for a long time on the boat. What a lovely guy he was.

Sorry for your loss, and I wish you strength.

Dear Heather,

We are so sorry to learn of the tragic passing of Steve recently. As you know, we had the great opportunity as a family to spend time at Fountainhead. And see close-up just what a wonderful person Steve was.
Kind natured, generous to a fault and with an intuitive connection to all things nature second to none. His deep love and care of his horses had to be seen to be believed. He was able to communicate with them at an extraordinary level. Seeing him on horseback was to witness a powerful synergy between man and animal. It was almost as if they could read each other´s thoughts., such was the incredible precision of the micromovements.

One of my favourite memories of Steve was late one night when you both called me to go to the barn where one of his mares had just given birth to a beautiful foal.

Our children all loved Steve. His sense of fun, loud laugh and outgoing nature.

We were honoured when Steve came to Waterford some years ago when we were able to gift him a Waterford Hurling jersey.

Our lives are all the richer for having known Steve and we are incredibly grateful for the wonderful memories left behind. It was a genuine privilege to have known him.

Heather, our hearts are aching for your loss. We know how great a team you were together and our hope is that you will somehow summon the inner strength to keep going.

Steve is being remembered by us in our prayers here in Ireland.

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Sincere sympathies

To know Steve is to have an affection for Steve. He was authentic and curious and warm . Whenever I had the pleasure of being at the ranch and sharing meals with he and Heather or chatting when he came in and out from working in the barn.. .. he always made me feel welcome and liked to make a personal connection. The Ranch Felt like a world un to itself and his presence there will be sorely missed . However, his soul lives on there RIP Steve. Love Susan and also Rob sends his warmest condolence

Though we only met briefly in Shanghai, I've always admired your leadership and compassion you bring to our company. Reading about Steve's life, the love gave so freely to people, animals and his community, left me deeply moved. It's clear he was someone who lived with extraordinary kindness and the legacy he leaves behind is a testament to that.

I can't pretend to understand the weight of this loss, but i hope you feel the warmth and respect so many hold for you both. My heart goes out to you in this unimaginably difficult time. May the memories of Steve's joy, generosity and the love he shared bring you moments of peace.

This is such sad news! God bless Steve´s family! Steve was a fantastic guy! So many students learned from him! He had so much knowledge about Horses and riding! He worked very hard and was very talented! This is a tragic loss to not only Heather, family, friends, students, but also the horse industry! I loved to talk horse with Steve. I loved to watch him ride, and I had a lot of fun going and visiting Heather and Steve in Delaware with my boyfriend at the time! We had a lot of fun riding! Steve, May you fly with the angels, and have all the best Horses you desire! Until next time, God bless!

Steve became a part of our Castle Rock Chevrolet GMC family and will be greatly missed. From sharing stories of horses to trucks to everyday life, he always had a contagious positive energy in a sometimes-dark world. There are no words to express how much he meant to all of our employees, and what he did to brighten their day. He always made time to talk to everyone, addressing them by their first names, and talked to them like family. His patience was something that should be modeled after in life. Not seeing Steve here will leave a forever hole in our hearts. Thank you for allowing us in your life.
