Stephen Joe Gipson

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. at College Heights Baptist Church in Poplarville for Mr. Stephen Joe Gipson, 48, of Poplarville who passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Pearl River County, Miss., resulting from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Brother Walter Pierce and Brother Breaux Tageant will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Juniper Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Poplarville.A native of Pearl River County, Miss., he was born September 7, 1960 in Biloxi, Miss., to Ray Gipson and Mary Ann Smith. He was a United States Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Bella Wood and a member of Juniper Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents, Otis and Roxie Smith; paternal grandparents, Randie and Verdie Gipson; and one aunt, Patsy Pace.Survivors include: his mother, Mary Ann Smith Gipson of Poplarville; father, Ray Gipson and his wife Lois of Poplarville; one brother, Michael Ray Gipson and his wife Hilary of Culleoka, Tenn.; two sisters, Sue Smith and her husband Shane of Carriere, and Mona Gipson Martin and her husband Craig of Perkinston, Miss.; three nieces, Jennifer Hilary Gipson, Savannah Smith, and Sadie Martin; four nephews, Michael Otis Gipson, Maverick Smith, Stettson Smith, and Chase Martin; and one special friend and soul mate, Laurie Hutchings of Poplarville.Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2009 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at College Heights Baptist Church, 217 Highway 11 North, Poplarville, MS 39470.White Funeral Home in Poplarville (601) 795-4982 is in charge of the arrangements.
