Stephen Grega Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2013.
Stephen Andrew Grega, 45, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013.

Stephen was born in Ravenna, Ohio on February 9, 1968 to parents Joseph M. and Mary E. Grega. Stephen graduated in 1986 from Rootstown High School. He was an auto mechanic and worked at Martin Motors, Courtesy Chrysler, Flynn's Tire, Ravenna Auto Body and most recently at Ellet Radiator. Steve learned to play the drums in school and as he grew up he played in several bands. He enjoyed camping and fishing, but most of all he loved coaching sports. Steve was an Assistant Coach for Lake Youth Baseball and Football and donated his time to help coach teams for both of his sons. Steve was very likeable and had a great sense of humor. He was always willing to help others and until recently, he did not realize how many lives he had impacted and was touched by the generosity of so many people. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife and sons.

Stephen is survived by his wife Sheila (Boles) Grega whom he married on May 25, 1991 and his sons: Nathan and Ryan Grega. He is survived also by his mother Mary E. Ahrens and his brothers: Michael, Gary and Scott Grega.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father Joseph M. Grega and his brother Joseph E. Grega.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Graveside services will be held at Mount Peace Cemetery, 12360 Market Ave., Hartville, Ohio 44632 on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M with Pastor Matt Stahl officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in Stephen's name to Lake Youth Sports.

Sheila, Nathan and Ryan. I am so sorry to hear about Steve. I can remember watching his band play at Joe's in Windham when Mike and I first got married. But the one thing that stands out the most about him was when Chelsea had car trouble and her dad was on the road. Sheila called him and told him what was going on. He had me bring it in and he checked it out. He said he would fix it but he was adamant about her not driving it until it was fixed. He said it wasn't safe and he wouldn't feel comfortable with her driving it. It was before pay day and he still fixed it and said pay me when you have it. He was more concerned with my daughter's safety then getting paid right then. He was definitely a stand up guy. I will never forget that. He was a genuinely caring person who loved his family and cared about his friends. He will be missed. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers.

I went to school with Steve. He was a very good guy. When I would go to Flynns he would go out of his way just to say hi. Prayers go out to the family. I am so sorry for your loss.
