Stephen Hencinski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 14, 2015.

Stephen Roger Hencinski died early on Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was born on July 22, 1953 in Buffalo, New York. Beloved husband to Mary Calderone for almost 37 years, and father of Captain Mia Hencinski, USMC, a 2010 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He felt honored to be a 'sponsor dad' to countless Midshipmen since 2001 - Eternal Father was his favorite hymn. Survived by devoted sisters, Janet Bogdan and Carol Bubar; their husbands Dave Bogdan and David "Bear" Bubar; nieces Julie Bogdan, Marie Staubitz, Elizabeth Potempa and their husbands; nephews David Bubar Jr. and Michael Bogdan; nine great-nieces and nephews - and so many other relatives and close friends around the world. His father and mother, Elmer and Ellen Hencinski, preceded him in death. Steve was the best storyteller and could liven up any party. He would play golf every day if it was possible, and even in their worst years, he loved the Buffalo Bills. He loved going to the beach and boating. He traveled extensively in his career - working tirelessly as a Telecommunications Salesman and later as a Cyber-security Consultant; he kept the printed definition for "Perseverance" with him wherever he went. Being a part of the Catholic Church gave him comfort in his peaceful passing. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, November 16th at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11am at St. Andrews by the Bay, 701 College Pkwy, in Annapolis, followed immediately by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial gift to the Swim Across America Lab at Johns Hopkins to benefit pancreatic cancer research. We will always have such fond memories of our time in Munich with the Hencinski family. Steve was so kind and had the best attitude. Tim was looking for Steve to wish him happy birthday when he learned of his passing. Our prayers to Mary and Mia.

Mary & Mia, so sorry to hear of your loss. Steve was part our neighborhood of friends that hung out together as teenagers and young adults. He will be remembered for his quick wit and his innate ability to make you laugh. I will think of him fondly and always remember that smile that he wore like a badge of honor. He will be missed...

Steve was a special man who loved to share stories of his family and adventures. Several years ago he visited Buffalo and he arranged a golf outing with friends from our neighborhood. We golfed and told stories and had a great outing. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. So sorry for your loss

Mary and Mia, I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was a great friend and I had the privilege to grow up with him in buffalo. I have many memories of Steve but one being when I was 16 he taught me how to drive his car that was a 3speed shift on the column of the steering wheel. He was patient with me.
Thought I would share a fond memory.
I am so sorry
