The Meads grew up on the same block as the Kams on Capitol Hill, and we have fond memories of Steve, who was a close friend and St. Joseph classmate of my brother Stephan. We remember the Kam family taking in Hungarian refugees in 1956 just as our parents did, and we remember Steve working at his parents celebrated bakery [Carolyn's Cakes] on 15th Ave. East. It must have been hard for Steve to resist the neighborhood's entreaties for free samples at the bakery. In fact, it was impossible...

God bless you Steve, and all your family.

It's hard to be so far away from the family during their time of sorrow. We have many fond childhood memories of our cousin Stephen, who had a kind heart and a great sense of humor.
