Stephen Kosick Obituary

Stephen Kosick, 87, of LaBelle, and a resident of West Maiden Manor in Charleroi, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Brownsville General Hospital. He was born May 29, 1915, Maxwell, the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Kovalchick Kosick. Mr. Kosick was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in LaBelle and the Holy Name Society. He retired from U.S. Steel and worked for the Pennsylvania highway department and Aloe Coal Company in East Millsboro. Mr. Kosick attended California State Teacher College, California, Pa., was a former member of the Rotary Club of Republic, the Brownsville Hospital Board of Directors, and the Brownsville School District Board of Directors. He enjoyed playing the violin and singing. Mr. Kosick was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C. Juran Kosick; and one sister, Elizabeth Hagyari. He is survived by three children, Patricia and husband James Currie of Charleroi, Mary Lou and husband Ray Neil of California, Pa., and Bernadette and husband Joseph Mendish of Latrobe; five grandchildren, Chris Currie and wife Beth of Boswell, Dru Anne Neil of Gettysburg, and Jennifer Currie, and Erica and Jessica Mendish, all of Latrobe; one great-grandchild, Riley Currie of Boswell; one sister, Mary Kosick of Brownsville; and his friends at West Malden Manor, Washington Avenue, Charleroi. Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. James R.C. Church, LaBelle, with the Rev. The rev.. James Petrovsky as celebrant. Interment will be Lafayette Memorial Park. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
