MAGNANI, Stephen Paul It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the sudden loss of Stephen Paul Magnani on September 28, 2017 at the age of 71 years. Devoted husband of Nannette Magnani. Cherished father of Damien Magnani (Renea), Vanessa Carewe (Tyler) and Sarah Magnani. Adored grandfather of Isabella and Victoria Magnani; and Dylan and Addelyn Carewe. Beloved brother of Linda Bellatorre and the late Jeffrey Clifton. Loving brother-in-law of Rose Marie Smith (Alex) and Yolanda Austin (Daniel). Survived by several nieces and nephews. Steve was born and educated in San Francisco. While growing up in the Marina District, he worked at Lucca Deli, where his passion for cooking started. He graduated from SF State with a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Management. During the 1970s, Steve broadened his culinary horizons while living and working in Switzerland. Upon his return to the US, he began working as a sous chef at Au Relais in Sonoma, and where he met the love of his life, Nannette. Together, they enjoyed 38 years of marriage and raised a beautiful family. Steve was most proud of being the chef/owner of La Famiglia Deli in Petaluma for 12 years. After closing the deli, he worked at Amy's Kitchen, from which he recently retired after nine years. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, working out, his chants with friends rooted in the Nichiren Buddhist faith, reading a good book, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and rooting for the Raiders. Above all, Steve loved his family. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Sgi USA Redwood Coast Community Center, 2455 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to COTS or RCU Community Fund, Attn. 2017 North Bay Fire Relief. Private Inurnment.

Dear Nannette and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember very vividly when I last saw Steve. We were at the show downtown and it was crowded. Steve sat next to me. We talked and laughed or rather he talked and I laughed. He was a beautiful person. May God bless and keep all of you at this difficult time. Much love.

Dear Nan and Family, Our hearts are so very sad hearing this news of Steve's passing. Our memories of Steve will forever be talked about with much fondness as we remember our times at La Famiglia, Steve's catering of my 40th Birthday party, and most of all his wonderful and heartfelt hugs every time we saw him. What joy he brought to the lives of everyone he met! His kindness and sincere caring will never be forgotten. Sending you much love and strength during these days to come. I never met Mr. Magnani but I was a frequent customer of La Famiglia and I still miss the warm and welcoming environment that he created. My friends and family still rave about the chicken meatballs in cream sauce! My condolences to his family. Know that he impressed people he did not even know.

It's a wonder we enjoy life so when knowing there is always an end in sight for each of us. But it is that end of life that shows the universe, friends and family just how wonderful we lived it. It is through the telling of stories and the love in our hearts that continue the stroy. When a loved one passes is when you fully understand it is your love that brings them with you forward in each new step you take. It is that love that gives you the power to go forward and carry on. I send love and light to all missing this wonderful man!

Nannette: We are shocked by your husband leaving us, and know with confidence he is at peace. The Deli was regular stop for my mother and I, and his personality was always so large and welcoming. Be strong, Kathy Leoni and Joan Peterson
