Stephen M. Mashburn

Stephen Martin Mashburn, age 57, went home to stand before Jesus on July 19, 2011 at 2:20 a.m. in Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. Surrounded by family and friends lifting up praise to their Maker, Steve quietly fell asleep and awoke in the presence of the Father. Steve had been a quadriplegic since he was 15 years old, but now he dances in Heaven with all the saints that had gone before, and his glorious King Jesus. He was proceeded in the journey to life everlasting by his brother Michael Bryan Mashburn, his dad Willis "Bill" Mashburn, and his mother Lois (Martin) Currey. He is survived by four cousins, Doug Hisken, Teresa Heater, Tina Friend and Russell Hisken all of Belle Plaine KS. Inurnment will be at a later date at Longton Cemetery. Steve will be greatly missed by his many brothers and sisters in Christ, especially his caregivers of the last 27 years Christopher and Judi Fleet and their children Hannah and Joshua Fleet and Esther Wold. Steve's life touched thousands of people over the years through his various outreaches and ministries, including street witnessing and pro-life work through the Godarchy Line and the Operation Save America website. Throughout his life, many brothers and sisters gave of their time to provide loving care for Steve. Whether he was in the hospital or in the comfort of his own home, Steve was never without friends. Steve believed in the truth of God's Word and that it says, "Jesus said ...., 'I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:' John 11:25" All praise and glory to Jesus our King and Saviour! Congratulations Steve!
