Stephen Maynard

Stephen Aden Maynard, "Maynard" age 72, passed away on February 21, 2025, in American Fork, Utah from pneumonia after a long battle with dementia. Born on December 9, 1952, in Midvale, Utah. He was the beloved son of Corrine Clements Maynard and Robert Maynard, both of whom preceded him in death, as well as his brother Richard Maynard.

Maynard graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1970. After high school he was drafted into the Army, where he excelled at marksmanship and electronics... except it was discovered at that time, that he was color blind, so that proved quite a challenge. Imagine the trouble if they had allowed him to wire the bombs! (Hahahaha) He was later honorably discharged. Stephen married Gayle Mecham on May 7, 1988. They later divorced. Even at the end of his life, he maintained she was the love of his life.

Stephen loved animals, especially cats, and was highly allergic AND his allergist told him to get rid of them, NOT A CHANCE!! ;D At one point in his life, even had a pet skunk.

Maynard had many lifelong friends from high school and from his many years at Sealed Power.

He was described by his great friends, Kim (Harpo), Bruce, and Gilbert, all of whom were musicians extraordinaire in their own right, as the best stereo player ever.

Stephen is remembered by his daughters, Hilari (Jason) Robinson and Lindi (Scott) Christensen. Stephen also had nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.

He is also survived by his sisters, Jackie (Trent) Hendrix, Pamela (Ronald) Stager, Janice Cirillo, and Evelyn (Mark) Weeks. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, extended family and, according to his ex-wife, many ex-girlfriends. Although the siblings went their separate ways later in life, Stephen deeply loved his sisters.

Stephen's family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers from St. George Hospital, Millcreek Rehab, Alpine Rehab and American Fork Hospital for their wonderful care of Stephen during the last years of his life. He was described as "such a funny guy, that tended to be quite a trouble-maker" and "you just never knew which Stephen you were going to encounter from day to day".

May the memory of Stephen Aden Maynard, "Maynard" bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
