Ocala - Stephen Paul "Papa" Sample passed away peacefully surrounded by his ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on May 18, 2013 at the Legacy House in Ocala, Florida.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and moved to Ocala Florida in the early 90's. He is predeceased by his youngest daughter Jessica Sample that died tragically in a car accident in 2001. He was also predeceased by his parents Chester and Joanna Sample and his brother Phillip Sample.
Stephen is survived by his wife Maria Luz Sample, his eldest daughter Kristina Sample Lewis and her fiancé Stephen Cruz their son Kaleb Stephen Cruz, his middle daughter Stephanie Sample and her daughters Kayley Sample and Eden Sample son Kayden Sample, his step daughter Maria "Joy" Booth her husband Chris Booth and their daughters Tyler Booth and Te'a Booth and son Christian "CJ" Booth. His brothers, Thomas Sample, Bill Sample, Michael Sample, and his sister Janet Petchen. As well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends he considered family.
Stephen was a fun loving, easy going man and a free spirit. He enjoyed fishing, watching football with friends and Gator parties in the fall, going to the beach, and just spending time talking with the ones he loved. He was no stranger to anyone and bragged about his children and grandchildren to all who would listen.
A Mass will be held in honor of Stephen Friday, May 24th, 2013 at 10:00am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Father Pat Sheedy will officiate. And the family invites you as well to a celebration of life held at the Silver Lakes Acres Clubhouse Friday evening at 5:00pm. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services are caring for arrangements.
