Steve on watch at a Tori Amos concert, 1996.

Steve was an incredibly generous, loving, open-hearted man who made everyone around him feel safe. He will be deeply missed.

The world lost a big heart and big personality when we lost Uncle Steve. There will never be anyone to fill his shoes and he will be sorely missed. He taught us to wakeboard along with Uncle Mike and Uncle Al, though Steve gave us the "you have three strikes" rule when we were trying to get up. That boat always came floating by with the ski rope and there he was shaking his head no from the driver's seat..."that's one!" There's that tough love of his. We're missing him so much. I remember how he really wanted to meet this guy I was going to marry when I got engaged, and it meant a lot when he said "I like you, Lucas." The Steve stamp of approval meant a lot. He was so supportive of us, and our lives, and the things we wanted to do. We're going to miss his laugh, his jokes, his stories about his touring days, fireworks from the boat, watching the sunset from the dock, grilling (we're so crushed Lucas never got to build him his BBQ), and so many other things we won't get to do with him. We had an amazing last river trip with him the 4th of July, 2014 and I'm so glad to know he was so happy and full of joy when we saw him. I'm sad we didn't get more time with him and there are so many plans we made that we hadn't gotten to yet. To the girls and Roshel, the love of his life, Joey & kids, and Betty... our deepest condolences. We love you all and are here for you. We'll always be your family. Thank you for sharing this amazing man with us. We love Steve so much; we're so thankful and blessed for the time and relationship we did have with him. Above all, I'm thankful that I know that man knew Jesus and there's comfort in knowing that we will see him again someday.

Steve was the nicest, friendliest, funniest person ever. We love and miss him so much. We know he is resting in paradise watching over sweet baby Lukas for us. He always had such a caring heart and a true loveable personality. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

Passing can be considered a journey one takes alone with a crowd. Steve knows he has the spirit of family and friends with him. To Shauna, the lovely girls and Family our prayers continue for you. Each of us is here for the other while Steve rests in peace (R.I.P.)
My thoughts are with Steve's family and friends. I only knew him as a Tori fan but he was always nice to me. So sad to hear of his passing.

this is very sad news. he was always very kind, and seemed to respect the ministry of Tori Amos really taking time to hear from her fans. One time, in the rain in Ann Arbor, MI, Steve arranged for all of us to meet Tori on the actual tour bus. My prayers go out to his family in this time of loss and transition.

Tori's old bodyguard. But, I knew him personally. It's a small world, it really is! A long time ago when Tori was doing that Tour in 1999 w/Alanis I took a lot of photos. During the holidays I went out to my Dad's house in Lancaster. In the dessert, in the middle of nowhere. Lancaster is a weird place. Anyhow, I brought my photo book and was showing the photos to my younger sister. She yelled and pointed "Steve' what is Steve doing in your pictures?" I was like no way. She said that they were neighbors & she was friends w/Steve's daughter. And Steve's wife use to come over my Dad's for Tupperware parties, etc... And so, every time after that I would speak to Steve on the many Tori tours. I remember him being cranky sometimes. Lol. But he did a good job protecting our Tori!! This is sad, he's still young & has a daughter & wife. I always wondered what happened to him. RIP Steve! -Raven

I'm so sorry to Steve's family he was a wonderful man and agent. We would like to know if there will be any kind of services held in the Antelope Valley as we are all waiting to hear something. We would like to celebrate Steve's life in some type of memorial. Thanks you!

I am so sad for the loss of your son, brother, dad, cousin and my dear friend Steve. He was a man of faith who made no secret that he relied on it to help him through each and every day. If he was your friend that meant something to him. With Steve friendship was based on loyality, dependability, respect and truthfulness from both sides. His favorite word was " river". He was a giving father who loved his kids and saw it as a joy and privilege to spend time with his daughters. Although Steve was not perfect, he was an example of a good father, a good friend and a true professional. His smile and his laugh will live on forever in our memories and our hearts. It doesn't seem fair to me, but i know he is spreading that smile and laugh in the next life. I find comfort knowing that someday he will be there to welcome me with both. Steve, you were one of the good guys and will forever be one of my best friends

Words cannot even begin to express how sad we are at the passing of our sweet, handsome, funny, lovable cousin, Steve. It was like walking into a big, warm hug to be in his presence. We will never forget our precious cousin. May you soar with the angels, Steve! We are so sorry, Auntie Betty, Joey, and the rest of Steve's immediate family. Our thoughts and prayers are, and will continue to be, with all of you at this sad time. Much love always, Floyd and Cindy Carabajal and family

The Lucero's are deeply saddened by the passing of Steve and know he will be sorely missed. I have many good memories of Steve; especially when we lived in California. He was fun to be around and always had positive thought-provoking perspectives on things. Steve and I engaged in many conversations about drumming, music and the music industry... Passions we both shared. Our deepest condolences go out to Shauna, Roshel, Shyann, Roxion and the rest of the Sanchez family.
