Stephen Shepherd

Tucson - It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Stephen Shepherd, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Steve was born a man on July 22, 1965, a running joke amongst the family during his life. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his daughters, on July 16, 2025, not simply a man, but a great man.

Steve etched a lasting impression on all who met him. He spent over 40 years dedicated to his passion and career at Borderland Construction, and 22 years as a Life-Active Centurion member, valuing every relationship he built.

Few know he was also a jokester, with his grandchildren lovingly calling his antics Papa Jokes. He enjoyed classic rock, saw Steve Miller Band twice last year, and loved singing along to Werewolves of London.

But most importantly, he was a truly wonderful father and the world's best Papa. He was patient, kind, and generous, pouring his whole heart into his family. His legacy will live on through an enduring love he shared with his family and closest friends.

Steve is survived by his children, Courtney, Kristi, and Casey (and their partners); his grandchildren, Mia and Gabriel; the mother of his children, Lisa; his mother Patricia; and his siblings Kiley and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace and Melissa, whom he is now reunited with in Heaven.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11 AM at Zion City Flowing Wells Church (2561 Ruthrauff Rd.). Flowers may be sent to the church, or in place of flowers, a donation can be made to the memorial fund for Steve at the Cancer Research Institute: https://tinyurl.com/SShep-cri.
