GLENVILLE - Sterling C. Shearer, 81, of Glenville died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Codorus Township, the son of the late Paul J. and Lettie M. (Saubel) Shearer. He married the former Velma M. Albright, with whom he celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Nov. 10.
Mr. Shearer was a lifelong poultry farmer in the Codorus Township area.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Congregation of St. Jacob's Stone Church, where he was also a member of the choir and Sunday school. Mr. Shearer served his church as a Sunday school teacher, church council member and church treasurer.
Mr. Shearer was a director of the former Codorus and Manheim Township Farmers Association and a member of the Jefferson Fire Company and the Codorus Township Election Board.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, the Rev. Adrian J. Shearer of Northumberland; three daughters, the Rev. Vivian F. Roberts of Neudorf Saskatchewan, Canada, Camellia K. Gantz of Glenville and Pamela M. Shearer of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, where the funeral will follow at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. Paula Murray, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Contributions in Mr. Shearer's memory may be made to St. Jacob's (Stone) Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, PA 17329, or to VNA/Hospice, 218 E. Market St., York, PA 17403.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock.

I was so sorry to hear about Dad's death. I know that it is a blessing and that he is in a better place. Sorry I couldn't be with you all today, my deepest sympathy to all of you. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
